Cecil Field Golf Club
About
Fiddler's Green at Cecil Field Golf Club is located at the Cecil Commerce Center, formerly the Cecil Field Naval Air Station. The golf course was built in 1975 and has been managed by Capstone Golf since 2005.
Fiddler's Green is a regulation 18-hole course in a beautiful tree-lined setting with no development on its borders. The course offers a stern challenge, measuring 6,643 yards from the championship tees. The course rating is 71, and it has a slope rating of 125.
Towering pines shape the course as it weaves its way around the serene natural setting. Fiddler's Green's generous fairways leave challenging approach shots to some of the smallest putting greens in the area.

Cheap winter golf outing
Cheap golf outing at $10. Very bumpy greens and little to no grass on the fairways Very little play so play was extremely fast
To bad for a golfclub.
It’s a pity that the Golfclub is in such a bad shape. The people working there are not friendly. I don’t want to come there again. It only cost me 3X10.00 dollar.
Buyer beware
This course is going backwards greens were terrible never putted one time in all 18 holes where my ball didn't bounce up and down.i think they are putting there money into making this a frisbee golf course.really I am not joking frisbee stations all over the course. If you want to play golf a real sport don't play here.
Awful...so sad for what once once a good place.
At 9 this morning no range balls available so worked on other things--chipping, putting, etc..., while the ranges balls were being picked up. From then to 10:30 checked 2 more times with the pro shop having seen the catch trays filled 3 different times. Still, no balls. Really? I have tried to support Cecil even in its horrendous decline in the last 10 years. But now evidently it can't even function as a second rate driving range. I have put up with terrible fairways, none existent greens, bad to mediocre at best chipping and putting greens, and purchased cut, gashed and warped driving range balls for the last time there.
Close course until up to par!
If the course was shut down for at least 6 months it could be wonderful. Tee boxes are horrible. If the fairways and greens were treated and not played on for a few months they would be nice.
Terrible Conditions
This course is never great but it was absolutely terrible. The fairways (if you can call them that) are mostly dirt and the greens were extremely shaggy. A bucket of range balls were $7 which is way overpriced for the area. The lady in the pro shop was also extremely rude about start times even though no one was there. The only positive was the quality of the food in the restaurant.
Stay away! There are much better courses in the area in the same price range.
Good place for the average player
I had not been here before and I was rather surprised. I brought my son with me to play and recommend to go with someone that had not played much golf in the past. Good place to take your time or for a partner that needs to take more time than other courses. Greens are really small and challenge to hit for those needing to work on approach accuracy. Fairways are not in good shape on a lot of holes but nothing horrible to play on or use winter rules on. For those living east of downtown it does take a while to get to the course. Plan on extra time to get there.
If only
Cecil could be a very nice course but it needs a lot of work and money. Fairways have potential, bunkers not very good and greens probably best aspect. Laid back and a not rushed. The potential is really good but the same could be said of most concerning our game.
Bad Fairways
The greens were in excellent condition very makeable putts. Now the fairways are another situation full of weeds and low spots make it difficult to get good drives from the fairway.
Sandtraps are horrible.
We played this course when the Navy had it and it was well maintained . The fairways have better sand than the traps. So many bare spots . We just move back to the area and this is close to us
Have been there about ten times and thought spring would bring better maintenance. Very disappointed
everything was great.
I really appreciate GOLF NOW, thank you very much.
Great value, and a great coarse for beginners to catch the love of the game
Not bad
Course is improving. Friendly staff. Greens are better than last year. Great for beginners and those that want to improve without the hassle.of.too many people around
Very laid back
While this course is not technically difficult or well kept it does offer something most courses don't, relaxed pace of play. It's a great place for beginners and folks who are looking for a less stressful place to play. I like to practice there. It's very affordable if you can play during the week.
Somewhat improved
The fairways are still atrocious. Cecil rules dictate placing your ball on grass, if you can find some. You can always see where your ball lands, because it kicks up dirt when it hits the fairway. The bunkers now have some sand in them, not nearly enough and someone needs to pull the weeds in the bunkers. But they do have more sand than several courses in the area do now. Congratulations the greens are no longer the worst in the Metro Jacksonville area. That honor now goes to Hyde Park. Still much work is needed. There are still multiple tee box signs that have not been replaced. When it gets hot, make sure to bring your own water, there aren't any coolers. Maybe they can take some of the money they earn from people like the guy who ricocheted the Frisbee off a tree on to the green while I was putting and make some more improvements for GOLF! I was able to complete my round in about 2 1/2 hours, that's why I chose to go there. Definitely would never pay for anything other than a hot deal.
Practice round course
Good practice round course to sharpen game. Back nine is better than front nine. Fairways need some work and greens are ok. Staff was very friendly and let me go off hole two so I wouldn't be behind the group of 8. Nice layout of holes and wide open. A couple of hard dog legs and par three's. if you're missing a fresbie you can buy one from the club house as I did. Overalll worth the 16 bucks for 17 holes played as a single and practice with the driver not a bad day. Just play lift and place to find grass on some of the fairways not all.
