The Deerwood Country Club golf course was originally built in 1960 and in the 1970s played host to several Greater Jacksonville Opens, the predecessor for today's Players Championship, currently held in Ponte Vedra.
The entire golf facility underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2004. Architect Brian Silva created the new design, using original architect George Cobb's generous core routing. The par-72 course has five sets of tees ranging from 5,463 yards from the reds to 7,223 from the championship tees.
Deerwood's greens are somewhat sloped, and there are plenty of sand bunkers and water hazards to make this course a challenge for any skill level. Many of the fairways are lined with pine, palm, and oak trees.
The golf course rating is 73.4, and it has a slope rating of 131.
