Golf Club At South Hampton
About
The Golf Club at South Hampton was designed to give every golfer appropriate risk-and-reward opportunities that supply both encouragement to beginners and challenges for more advanced players. The slope and contour of the course’s landscape is its trademark with strategic mounding and over 60 contoured bunkers that emphasize the terrain’s natural undulations. The course features rolling fairways and massive greens. There are also sixteen large lakes that come into play throughout. The signature hole is the tremendous par-5, 17th, which is a scenic hole that features a lake, fairway bunkers, and a breaking green. Although the course is a challenge, there are six sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels.

Greens and food
Greens just awful- shouldn’t be charging full price- maybe half price for this course
Also, need the clubhouse to step it up with food- grill some burgers and hot dogs or something- !!
Step it up south Hampton!
The greens on the front line have much to be desired. The back 9 made up for it, but getting that front line green situation straightened out as a must if you’re gonna keep charging that kind of money.
Front 9 greens were in bad shape
Back were improved but long
Don’t bother
Don’t waste your time or money. This course has gone to waste. Used to be one of best courses in Jax. Greens are in the worst condition I’ve ever seen.
Greens and fairway
I have played the course over the last 3 years and have always considered it to be a good public course and well maintained. Unfortunately after my visit yesterday and having played other courses I could not understand why the greens were in such poor conditions . The fairways were not any better(a lot of sandy areas on and off the fairways). Golf is expensive nowadays but spending $50 and above to me requires that the product justifies the cost. Hopefully the management team realizes that spraying greens is not the solution
Great course but..
It’s a great course, love playing here but the greens were just not great at all
What is going on with the fairways/greens
I've played this course a few times and want to first say I have enjoyed this course every time I play it. However, this time the greens on every hole were burnt and had patches of just sand on them. Fairways were not much better but at least they were not burnt on every hole. Check with the pro shop before booking to see if the course is in good condition but I feel this issue will not be fixed any time soon.
Greens need work
first time playing South Hampton in over 2 years and I remember the greens being some of the best, now they can only be called Average at best. Slow, bumpy bare spots and weeds..oh my! Need more sand in the bunkers also. Hope the greenskeeper can get them back in shape soon.
Terrible Greens
Greens are in awful shape. They should be embarrassed to charge this much.
Greens need some love.
Love Playing South Hampton. Not sure why but greens 1-4 were awful. Bumpy and crusty with tons of bare sandy spots. Rest of greens were fair to average. Tee Boxes pretty chewed up and fairways were decent but need some watering and rain.
Greens and Fairways need help
I am not sure what is happenning with the conditions but it is not pretty right now. Many of the greens in the front nine need help really bad. It was not a good experience.
However, I am confident they are going to get them back.
Big change from when I last played here 4 months ago. Greens are unplayable. Waited on every single shot. Did not play the back nine because pace of play and green conditions so poor. 2 1/2 hours to play the front.
The conditions you describe have existed for at least two years. Ever since the current owners took over. They charge a premium price for a sub par product, IMHO. They just don’t seem to care.
