Deerfield Lakes Golf Club in Callahan, Florida
CALLAHAN, Fla. -- Deerfield Lakes Golf Club is a no-frills course. It's up to you to load your bag, clean your clubs after your round and line up to tee off. That's because the course doesn't book tee times through the week (it's on a first-come, first-served basis). In short, show up when you feel like it and play.
One area Deerfield Lakes doesn't skimp on is the greens. They vary in size and shape, but they all are smooth as glass.
Located north of Jacksonville, the golf course is littered with tiny pockets of water hiding behind mounds or trees. Those little watery graves are more of a risk for those playing from the 6,605-yard back tees, but they could be a problem for all golfers.
Deerfield Lakes puts the "country" in country club. It offers a good test of golf at a low price and a very casual, friendly atmosphere. You'll feel right at home here.
